DIY High Waist Bikini

Hi guys. I don't know about you but I love the beach. I grew up in central Eastern Cape where I lived & never travelled until I was in high school & saw the ocean for the first time. I don't remember how it felt when I finally met one of Gods greatest creations but all I know is I love it now.
As a beach “babe” I have a variety of swimwear. They all vary with my body & how I feel at that time. I never have stable weight. I am just fat in December because truth be told I refuse to exercise in December, I just won’t. This past December I needed a high waist bikini. I saw lovely ones I could not afford. So the idea came to me to make my own. I had a one piece that would be perfect for this.

You will need:
A one piece swimsuit,
A pair of scissors
Sewing pins
Elastic gutter to use as a waistband
Very good hand stitching skills or a sewing machine

To make: Measure to the length of how high you want it to be. Then cut a centime above that. Using the pins place the elastic gutter along the waistline. Fold over to the inside & sew along the line. For the top cut the straps or keep them if you like (it’s yours after all). Then fold over the bottom edge of the bikini top & ooh la la, you now have a high waisted bikini. Enjoy.

Matat Sweet Home

Hi Guys. Today I am sharing these pictures taken during my December holiday. These were taken by my 13 year old niece outside our home. I was going out & we decided to put my camera to use & take these pics. I made this dress last year in one of my bored hormonal days. I wanted a little dress that would pop for both summer & winter. When I was done with it I felt that I needed more oomph to it so I embellished it with those pretty flowers.

I really enjoyed myself in Matatiele & it’s a place where I truly rest. I did a lot of travelling with friends but it was moments in between with my mom playing crosswords & watching TV that meant the most.

Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts: Oliver Mtukudzi

Hi guys. I hope you all had a safe & festive holiday filled with love & fun. I was blessed with an abundance of laughter & fun these holidays. I travelled & lot & will share some of those pics later. Last year before I went on holiday I attended one of the concerts at the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. I am a huge fan of Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe & I could not miss the chance to hear him play live. He was truly incredible & I was mesmerized by his performance.

There are many more concerts still to come until April. For someone who has not attended the concerts here are some few tips
1)    Arrive on time as the concerts start on time & are short so you don’t want to miss out.
2)    Pack a picnic basket to avoid being hungry & buying food at the last minute. You are also allowed to bring alcoholic drinks of your choice.
3)    Pack a blanket to sit on as you don’t want to overshadow other people behind you with camp chairs as most people sit on blankets on the ground.
4)    Pack a sweater on light jacket, its Cape Town after all. Surprise rain might juts bless you & it’s under a mountain & it gets chilly in the afternoon.
5)    It’s a family friendly venue where you can take kids so it’s a good idea to take the little ones because there are other kids there to play with & make new friends.

I went with the boyfriend & we had lots of fun. For a light meal we had some salads & a recipe of chicken wings I got from Jaime Oliver’s website of chicken wings. I adapted it a bit to my liking. I would recommend this for a relaxed feel after the hectic festive season. It’s a great place to go with family & friends. Hopefully we will see each other on the 22 March for Beatenberg & Gangs of ballet. See you there.

Prosperous 2015

Happy Prosperous 2015 my clique. I hope you celebrated in style & happiness to welcome the New Year. I am not one for resolutions or at least not on the 1st of January annually. I normally decide to make changes when I see there is a problem, not because it’s a certain date.

For you who will be making resolutions, make them wisely & do not go overboard & be realistic. That being said, dream big & bigger. Let all your ideas flow & aim high. Do not let the world take you down with its expectations & boundaries, go crazy.

I hope we will all prosper this year & be blessed with all our needs & wants.
