Merry Berry Xmas/ Essence Merry Berry Range

Hi guys. This month I think I am doing the most fitting beauty review. The Essence beauty range has become somewhat of a resident at my beauty desk. The beauty label then further swept me off my feet when they launched the Merry Berry Collection at the End of November. The range consists of lipsticks, nail polish and a gold dust powder.

The berry inspired range of lipsticks is my favourite. The deep dark purple is my number one. I love their lipsticks because they also moisturize. Not very long wearing but definitely worth the Mandela’s. When it comes to a quality affordable product they are at the top of my Christmas list.

I am learning slowly but surely to have pretty nails. Essence is the best range for this because they are so affordable. Be merry and try them.
The golden dust I will adorn on new-year’s eve. Nothing like a gold shimmer to take you to the New Year. It also smells so divine and the packaging OMG, too cute.

Jar Exchange/ DIY Flower Vase

Hi guys. If like me you live in a small space and are always conscious of where things should go then this little tip is for you. I am trying by all means to live a minimalistic life. I want to live in a clean space where I can easily see things. I am a very organized being and so I need to know where things are at all times.

I have grown to love flowers & I buy myself a bunch every now and then. I however didn’t want to buy a flower vase which would have no purpose at other times when there are no flowers. I then looked around my kitchen & there staring me in the face were these Jars I keep dry foods in.

I immediately decided to turn this into a vase and temporarily store my pasta in a plastic bag. Sharing is caring I said to the pasta, make way for the flowers for now.
This is one good idea on how to re-use items around your home to keep things simple and cheap.

Jar is from Consol (Stores in Woodmead in Joburg & Stellenbosch Cape Town)
Flowers I get from the Adderly Street market in Cape Town

WOMAN ENTREPRENEURS/ POP-UP BUSINESSES

Hi guys. Today on the blog I want to share my current shopping favourite. WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS.  I troll Instagram & I am constantly inspired by what I see. I hope you have seen the trending women who hold pop-up sales throughout the country promoting their brands. These women use social media to grow their brands and tell sell their products. I came across one of them Hombakazi Vintage Cabin on Facebook. I was immediately in awe of the label and what she was offering. I am a vintage crazed person so this was home for me.

Through this I discovered that she and other ladies across the nation hold pop-up stores for their customers. They get together and bring customers and array of fashion, beauty, health, accessories you name it.

I love this idea and when they are in Cape Town I am there to support. I am a woman who spends money on clothes & accessories & I want to spend my money on them. I support them because they bring quality to the table. They bring uniqueness and the ideas are great. I vowed to myself that I will buy more local and supporting women businesses is important to me as a woman. If you want unique pieces, not only vintage but to add WOOOOW to your closet, check out these ladies.

Here I wear a suit from Hombakazi Vintage CAbin. Top & bag are vintage from a thirft store in town. Shoes are from Zara.

Some of my favourites. Check then out on Instagram

Dineo's Beauty Desk/ October Issue

Hi guys. There is just something with beauty products that make a girl so fulfilled. I am not talking expensive crazy stuff. You know that shiny roll-on lip gloss that cost R5 you had as a little girl or how much you treasured your first body spray. I feel that way at times when I purchase products for my body. This month I want to share some of my current favourites. These are the products I will be using for the next three month hopefully. They need to last. The budget is locked for the year.

First up is the body shop body butter in mango flavour. I swear by this in the summer. I smell great & my skin feels silky. I normally buy the big jar which lasts for months.
Then there is the Neutrogena deep cleanse face wash. I hadn’t used it before but I was looking for something to use for my mornings after gym which was gentle enough after all the sweating.. I follow Mathahle Stofile on IG & she recommended it. I love it. It’s simple to use and really cleanse away without any harshness.
L’Oreal lipstick. This is my first lipstick buy from the beauty house. This is from one of their ranges designed by the faces of L’Oreal. I chose this one from Laetitia Casta. The texture of the matte does not feel dry & too matte. The colour suits my skin tone so well.
The distraction perfume from Woolworths was a gift from my friend Unathi. She is too sweet. I love the rosy scent. It’s flowery but not too sweet. It will go so well this summer.
Then save the best for last. I have never owned anything from Clarins before. I was the beauty department at a store when I decided to try this Clarins Lip Perfector. Yep it’s a perfector. The name is so well suited because of the effect it gives. The best thing about it is the applicator bush. It makes applying so easy & luxurious. The texture gives me that “kiss me” feel. Honestly I want to kiss some-one when I wear this. I have found the lip stuff I have been looking for. HONESTLY, it’s a perfect.

Rocking The Daisies 2015

Hi guys. So rocking the Daisies. I have been attending this festival since 2012 and I have had some serious fun. This year was the festivals 10th year anniversary. I attended with my friend Unathi who has been at my side since the start.

I won’t dwell much on the what & what not’s. I just wanted to share my festival style this year. I went for “simple slayage” as I would like to call it. I just wanted simple dressing this year.
Any festival questions you might have please halla at me.

Franschoek Uncorked/ Cape Town Living

Hi guys. Living in Cape Town definitely has its perks. I love the spontaneity of always having something to do. Even in the height of winter the city offers a variety of things to do. This past weekend my friend Unathi & I woke up and decided to attend the Franschoek uncorked wine festival. The festival is an annual wine do in the historic town of franschoek. I didn’t get to capture the beauty of the town (except for myself………. LOL).

I am definitely attending in 2016 and with better planning this time. This year 21 wine farms participated in the festival. You can imagine trying to explore that many wine farms in a day. Next year the plan is simple. Book accommodation because all that “tasting” can get to your head. There are many resturants that I never got to explore that I want to give myself time to.  All in all it was great.

I wore a shirt which is part of a two piece. Knowing me ofcourse I wore it alone. I paired it with my favourite shoes from Woolworth & Bag From Zara.

The duodesk For Sunglass Hut/ Punk Avant Garde

Hi guys. I had such a great Monday this week. Theduodesk ala Crystal Kasper & Palesa Mahlaba were in town for the Sunglass hut Punk Avant Garde talk. If you don’t know who Palesa & Crystal are, well here is a quickie. They are the brains behind #theduodesk. Crystal is a very well established fashion blogger & stylist, check her site here. Palesa is a former True Love fashion editor & stylist. Both are well known faces in the industry and the turn heads wherever they go.

Crystal & Palesa teamed up with Sunglass hut to give a talk on the avant garde trend. Crystal explains the trend and its background on her blog here. In summary from what I got, the trend was started as a fashion rebellion by individuals who wanted a different identity and thus the punk inspired trend took off. To date the trend has been transformed and the duodesk emphasized that it’s all about making it your own. Take it in your stride and personalize the trend. Please don’t conform. Of course one key piece to have to tie the look together and give it the ultimate cool is a pair of sunglasses. The right pair of sunnies just pulls a look together and can transform your entire look.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself & made a new friend, which is always hard for me. I follow both Palesa & Crystal on social media. I always wondered what kind of women they are. To my delight they are both very kind people who made time for all our questions and wanting to take pictures. I asked them all sorts of questions and they were more than happy to oblige.

One of my questions was where is theduodesk going? What’s the intent? What can we expect? Their vision is an online publication that will be a source of style & beauty advice for women. I for one is looking forward to it. For more on the duodesk check out their social media handles @newhipisterstyle @simplypalesa @theduodesk.
